After months of speculation and hype, the supposed creator of a controversial Jamaican adult website has charged for his operation of the outlet.
Law enforcement officials arrested 27-year-old Ronald Oates on Monday and subsequently slapped him with several charges under the cyber-crimes act and the larceny act on Friday. Oates was nabbed by police at his home where they seized several computers, mobile phones, wireless modems, flash drives amongst other items.
In a press conference held on Friday morning, representatives of the Organized Crime Investigation Division (OCID) intimated that they arrested Oates after receiving aid from police personnel overseas.
Oates will appear in court next week Wednesday to answer the aforementioned charges.
Jamaican Girls Exposed became a hot button website for adult content when it emerged on the scene earlier this year, showing several graphic photos and videos of Jamaican women without their consent. A number of high-profile entertainment personalities were featured on the website, including internationally acclaimed Reggae singer, Denyque, award-winning media personality, Pepita Little and, most recently, Miss Jamaica World 2011 finalist, Kayla Mendes.
After initially being shut down this past spring, Jamaican Girls Exposed returned on a pair of occasions with the tagline ‘Exposing Jamaican Girls will never stop.’ The third version of this adult website was removed last week after posting several more graphic photos and videos of Jamaican women.
